Privacy Statement
This is the privacy statement of Wannajoin. Wannajoin is a mobile application (“App”) that offers you a whole new way to organise your life, since it enables you to manage your chats, tasks and agenda all in one place. Wannajoin is operated by WannaJoin B.V.In this statement we explain which personal data we collect and use when you make use of our App and Services. We respect the privacy of our users and treat any personal data with the utmost care. We encourage you to carefully read this statement before using our App.
DEFINITIONS
In this privacy statement, the terms “we,” “our,” or “us” refer to WannaJoin B.V., our affiliates, subsidiaries, successors in interest, licensees and each of its and our officers, directors, shareholders, agents, representatives and/or employees. The terms “you” and “yours” refer to the natural person using (the Services provided via) our App.
Please note that, unless we define a term in this privacy statement, all capitalized terms used in this statement have the same meaning as in our general terms and conditions. Therefore, we encourage you to read our general terms and conditions first.
COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL DATA
Account and registration process
If you register for an account, you will provide us with certain personal information that can be used to identify you, such as your name, username, date of birth, phone number and profile picture (optional). The processing of this information is necessary to take steps prior to entering into an agreement with you. Once you have created an account your personal data is being processed to offer you our Services and thus to execute the agreement between us.
During the registration process we may request access and consent to and track location-based information from your mobile device to provide location-based services. We may also request access and consent to certain features from your mobile device, including your calendar and contacts to provide and facilitate your use of our App and Services. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in the settings of your device.
Services
Once your account has been created, you can start using our Services:
Chat messages, agenda and tasks: you can manage both your calendar and tasks via our App. In your agenda you can, for example, enter your contact’s birthdays and set that you want to receive a reminder thereof. You can also use our App to send chat messages to other users. We make use of end-to-end encryption, meaning that only you (and the person you are chatting with) will be able to read the messages you have sent and tasks that have been added to your agenda. Thus, we are not able to see the content of your messages and agenda. We do know which users have contact with each other via our App and Services.
Groups: Our App offers you the possibility to create, join, or get added to groups. Such groups get associated with your account information. We may use this information for commercial purposes, for example by showing the same advertisements to people in a certain group.
Log and metadata: We automatically record information when you use our App and Services. Log data include information such as your IP-address, device information, such as your mobile device ID, model, and manufacturer, and information about the location of your device, search terms, links you clicked on, access dates and time spent on pages and features of our App. We use this information to analyze, improve and possibly expand the use of our App and Services.
Customer support: If you make use of our customer support services, we process all information that you provide to us, such as your name, e-mail address, phone number and the questions you have asked us. We use this information to respond to customer support requests.
Push notifications: we may request to send you push notifications to notify you of updates to and request for feedback of our App and Services. If you wish to opt-out from receiving these types of communications, you may turn them off in the settings of your account.
Newsletters and feedback: we may use your contact details to send you newsletters, regarding the promotion of our App, Services and similar products and services. If you wish to opt-out from receiving these types of communications, you may turn them off in the settings of you device or unsubscribe by clicking on "unsubscribe" in the newsletter.
Improper use: we may have a legitimate interest to analyze the behavior of users in order to prevent misuse and/or improper use of our App and Services. We reserve the right to monitor, review, retain and/or disclose your identity and other personal data to any third party, such as regulatory and supervisory authorities, when we believe this is necessary to comply with any applicable law, regulation, or request.
WITHDRAWING CONSENT
When the processing of your personal data is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw this consent at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before your withdrawal.
INFORMATION OF OTHERS PROVIDED BY YOU
We request that you only store and send information of others via our App and Services when you are entitled to do so. If you have any doubts about this, please make sure that you have obtained consent from the person in question. If such information has not been legally provided to us, you are responsible and liable for any damages and claims arising thereof.
INFORMATION DISCLOSURE
We may share your personal data in the following situations:
Interactions with other users: if you interact with other users, depending on your privacy settings, those users may see your (user)name and profile picture, as well as the messages you have sent to them, the events and tasks you have created or performed as well as all other information you have actively shared with or made publicly available to other users of our App and Services.
Third party service providers: we may share your personal data with third parties that perform services for us or on our behalf, including hosting services, customer services, data analysis, and marketing assistance.
Protection of rights and responding to claims/requests: we may share your personal information with third parties, including governmental bodies and supervisory authorities, when i) we believe it is necessary to comply with any law, regulation or request, ii) to respond to claims or legal process, iii) to protect our or another person’s rights, property, or safety, iv) to investigate or remedy potential violations of our Terms and policies.
Business transfers: information that we collect from our users is considered to be a business asset. If we reorganize or sell all or a portion of our assets, undergo a merger, or are acquired by another entity, we may transfer your information to the successor entity. If we go out of business or enter bankruptcy, your personal data, may be sold or transferred to a third party as part of that transaction.
INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFER
Individuals living or located in countries outside the EEA will be able to install our App and use our Services. If you share information with these individuals, for example by sending chat messages, please be aware that the privacy laws and regulations of these countries may be different and possibly not as strict as those in the European Economic Area (‘EEA’).
Our servers are (partly) located outside the EEA.
RETENTION PERIOD
We will retain your personal data for the period necessary to comply with the purposes stated in this privacy statement unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. If you delete your account, all information stored in your account will be deleted from our servers.
THIRD PARTIES WEBSITES AND SERVICES
Our App may contain links to websites and services that are owned or operated by third parties. Once you have clicked these links any information you provide to these third parties is no longer subject to our privacy policy. We are not responsible for the content or privacy and security practices and policies of any third parties, including other sites, services or applications that may be linked to or from our App.
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to request an overview of the personal data that we have registered about you. You can also request us to change incorrect personal data or remove your personal data. You also have the right to object to the processing of your personal data or request a restriction of the processing of personal data concerning you. Finally, in some situations, you have the right to obtain your personal data, which you have provided to us, in a structured, standard and machine-readable form.
You can exercise most of these rights yourself by going to your account settings, clicking on “my data” and follow the steps.
If you directly make a request to us, we may ask you to identify yourself adequately before answering your request in order to prevent abuse of your account.
If you have any complaints about the way in which we handle your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority of your country.
CHANGES TO THIS STATEMENT
We reserve the right to make changes to this privacy statement at any time and for any reason. We will notify you about any changes by updating the “Last modified” date of this privacy statement. Any changes or modifications will be effective immediately upon posting the updated privacy statement.
